London College of Fashion is a unique centre of learning. Based in the heart of one of the world's greatest cities, its dynamic environment offers an exciting opportunity to study fashion.

With an international reputation for fashion education, London College of Fashion offers an unparalleled range of courses for students; from fashion design and technology, management and marketing to communication, promotion and image creation; our aim is to reflect the breadth of opportunities available in this vibrant, ever-changing industry. The college's reputation for excellence has recently been further enhanced by our merger with the prestigious Cordwainers College - with its century-old reputation as the leading provider of training and education in footwear and accessories.

Whether a student's passion is for footwear design, make-up for film, fashion buying or styling for photographic shoots, the philosophy of all our courses is to offer creative development alongside a strong vocational slant. Our emphasis lies firmly on professionalism: aiming to create an inspiring and instructive learning environment for our students. The expertise of our highly experienced industry professionals ensures that students are kept aware of changing demands and opportunities within the fashion industry. Many of our tutors combine teaching with careers within the industry. This allows them to pass on invaluable 'insider' knowledge to students, on the latest technologies, techniques and trends. We can therefore, offer our students a combination of practical and theoretical skills, supported by an understanding of the cultural context in which fashion operates.

The experience of studying at the London College of Fashion is enhanced by the excellent facilities provided across our various sites; including specialist workshops, media suites, and a technology and manufacturing centre featuring CAD/CAM facilities. Our conference facility suites, the Rootstein Hopkins Space, at John Princes Street, recently underwent a multi-million pound redevelopment and now this provides us with an exciting, flexible state of the art and high-tech venue for catwalk shows, lectures, seminars, and conferences.

International Outlook
At London College of Fashion we believe that fashion is an international language. This outlook is reflected in the high number of international students we welcome to the college, from over seventy countries. This cross-cultural mix helps to form a distinctive characteristic of the college community. Our perspective is further enhanced by the many academic links we have with colleges across the world.

UK and European students are also encouraged to study their subject with a global perspective. To help aid them in this approach exchange programmes have been set up in New York, Madrid, Budapest, Florence, Berlin and Amsterdam. Our students are also offered the opportunity to undertake work experience abroad.

Pioneering Research
As the only UK institution dedicated to fashion, the London College of Fashion is leading the way in the field of pioneering research across all areas of fashion. As an acknowledgement of our endeavours the college has been awarded an International Excellence grade 5 by the Art and Humanities Research Board Research Assessment Exercise.

Many of the staff at the college are engaged in research activity in the fields of historical and theoretical studies; pedagogy; cosmetic science; and promotion and management within fashion. Our pre-eminence in this field is documented by our authorship of numerous definitive journals and publications; and presentations at international conferences. We currently have a number of research students, fellows and professors working across numerous fields, as well as several externally-funded international projects. We also have collaborations industry professionals and designers, such as Dirk Bikkembergs and John Rocha.

Industry Links
Since its inception, a century ago, the college has forged strong bonds with the national and international fashion industry. The college and the fashion industry enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship, one that we are constantly seeking to expand upon. Due to our location on the heart of the UK's fashion industry, the college continues to enjoy a close relationship with the fashion, style and beauty industries in the UK. Recent developments include the introduction of the Centre for Fashion Enterprise (aimed to provide a valuable resource centre for fledgling fashion businesses) and our Business Technology Support Centre. The commercial links enable us to enable us to integrate work placements and conduct live projects with market leaders in a number of taught programmes. We are also increasingly strengthening our links on an international scale. The success rate of our graduates gaining fashion-related employment is high, reflecting both the college's reputation for excellence in fashion education and the fact that this is recognised by the industry.
