ArtForm: CityShowcase Act/Composer

Euclid Skerritt, a musical star was born September 1981 in “Shanty Town” Salem, Montserrat. Also known as the “Emerald Isle” for its exotic, green scenery and glistening seas, Montserrat upholds the mystical uprising of the Soufriere Hills Volcano. It is from this beautiful island, Euclid gained his knowledge and wise-mind of the realities of life. At the age of 16, the prophecy fulfilled for Euclid to become Jah Marnyah - 'the musical energy which enlightens the world'.
Jah Marnyah is the phenomenal sing-jay musically vibrating the world. His major breakthrough came in 2004 with his 1st release on Vibronics/ Scoops Label - 'Anointed One' still a big hit even today; with this explosive track music lovers knew that this artist beheld a unique gift. Since then, this very versatile artist has shown his sensational musical ability in many ways, with innumerable dub releases like 'Ghetto Life', 'I Try', 'Care & Share' and the crowd rocking cultural anthem, 'Rasta is Love'. Once you hear these tracks or if you are blessed to see him performing, there is no doubt that Jah Marnyah is a remarkable artist with an incomparable style. Yet not only is he a master of the dub scene, he is also a natural born reggae artist. 'What we Need' is the 2010 explosive reggae hit on the Jamaican 321 Strong Lacadema riddim. Featured on compilations with reggae counterparts Sizzla, Teflon, Jah Mason and many more big artists, Jah Marnyah quickly gained recognition with amazing no.1 hits 'Stormy Weathers', 'Where is the Love?' and 'Life is a Lesson'.
What makes this naturally talented artist special, is he is a true representation of 'real'. He lyrically educates the masses about realities of the world – Spirituality, Truths & Rights, War and Poverty, some of the factors which are having a big impact on mother earth today. Jah Marnyah explores the importance of issues of love and achieving in life, in one song he chants “by the sweat of your brow, that's how we eat our bread”, with hard work and perseverance you can achieve your goals. Jah Marnyah sees his music as the clouds carrying the water that quenches the earths thirsts. This energy is also conveyed in his physical tall structure that energetically erupts when he performs and positively captivates his audiences, entertaining them in every way. Establishing his own record label 'Faya Wurks' shows Jah Marnyah's productivity never ceases to manifest his creativeness. Regularly performing in Europe with Vibronics and top reggae bands, this year will see Jah Marnyah broaden his horizon with worldwide tours and his extraordinary debut album 'Sweat of your Brow' for release 2010
