Bonfire Nights

ArtForm: CityShowcase Act/Composer, New Zealand

Bonfire Night’s blend of stomping indie rock and psych-infused ambient pop grew from within the confines of their bedroom.  Starting out as a secretive duo in mid 2009, guitarist Steve Foster and drummer Ruth Nitkiewicz recorded their first self-titled EP before even laying a foot on stage.  The EP was produced by Matt Redlich (Hungry Kids of Hungary, PJ Wolf), using only a four-track analogue tape machine and a bunch of vintage gear.  Soon the secret was out and, with the encouragement of friends and other fellow bands, they decided to take the leap from the bedroom to the stage.

The pair recruited friend and multi-instrumentalist Nicole Hoaran to assist with their live shows and help bring the detailed textures of their recording to life.

The debut EP has received early kudos from Australian, Japanese, South Africa and Argentinian radio. After recently being invited to play a string of European shows the band decided to relocate to London in May 2011.

Bonfire Nights will be touring the UK and Australia in early/mid 2011 to launch their recently recorded video clip for single “Own Worst Enemy” and are currently collaborating on new material for their next release, due in mid 2011.

Their self-titled debut is available through MGM Distribution and iTunes.

“They exude a confidence and energy that is infectious and enthralling. This is a band that is going places. Dizzy and breathless, we are left hoping for a swift return by Bonfire Nights to our shores”
