The BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL (BFC) owns and organises London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards.
London Fashion Week is the major showcase event in the fashion industry calendar. It is held twice a year - February and September. The event comprises catwalk presentations and a designers exhibition. Both are home to many established designer names in the UK fashion industry and it is also recognised as a platform for launching new talent.
It also seeks to help British designers to develop their businesses and has published Designer Fact File, a guide to setting up a designer fashion business and the Designer Manufacturing Handbook.
The BFC has close links with the UK's top fashion design colleges through its Colleges Forum, which acts as an interface between industry and Colleges.
Created in 1983, the BFC is a non-profit making limited company and is financed by industry sponsors.
